Kevin Shird: From Drug Wars to Redemption – A Community Conversation
1531 W North Ave, Baltimore MD, 21217 October 24, 2015, 2:00 - 3:00pm
Part 1 of a five-part Mental Illness and Addiction Conversation Series in partnership with the Enoch Pratt Free Library, this event features activist, non-profit leader, and former drug dealer Kevin Shird reflecting on the powerful story from his autobiographical book, Lessons of Redemption. This book presents a case for incorporating compassion as part of the solution to the drug war: so many turn to using drugs for reasons hard to resist; so many turn to selling drugs for similarly compelling reasons. The event opens with a mindfulness experience led by the Holistic Life Foundation. Free copies of Lessons of Redemption are available for the first 50 people to arrive at the event.
This event is part of Free Fall Baltimore.
