The event includes live music by The Fly Birds during a pre-screening reception period that also features a preview slide show of the “Resilience” exhibition at the Allegany Arts Council, and resource tables with information on treatment and recovery supports. Special guests Ann Getty, from the town featured in the film, and Clay Stamp, Executive Director of Maryland’s Opioid Operational Command Center, join us for the event.
The Film.
This 39-minute documentary follows the brave work of three women in Huntington, WV, all passionate about ending the label of their city being named "ground zero" of the opioid epidemic in the U.S. These women, with strength, determination and bravery, are making a difference in the lives of their community through ministry, through compassion within the judicial system, and with educated and informed law enforcement.
The Conversation.
Then, join an array of individuals involved in taking on and affected by the opioid epidemic for a conversation where we ask ourselves, "Is This Us?" and explore how, as a community, Allegany County can tackle these issues directly using wellness, education, compassion, information and resources.
This event took place in conjunction with the exhibition Resilience: Healing What Ails Us Through Strength, Tenacity & Fellowship
